I discovered Zimmwriter about a month ago. Blown away by it. It is a Swiss army knife for blogging.
But it has one problem, if you are a love Macs as I do. Running it on a Mac is hard.
So what is the answer? Simple, buy a PC. OK but wait. LOOK AT MINI PCS FOR RUNNING ZIMMWRITER. TO RUN ONE PROGRAM??
Yeah.
But keep it simple. But not too simple.
Buy a computer that it can run on. An inexpensive one. That’s where a mini PC comes in. But it has to be a Windows 11 PC.
Why? Because if you run it on an older version of windows (excuse my cybersecurity background here), Windows 10 is being EOL in a year. Windows 7 and 8 already are. You want to run Zimmwriter. But not set yourself up as a sitting duck.
You also don’t want to get something so slow that it doesn’t work. Fortunately, that’s not a problem. Zimmwriter will run on a computer with at least 8 GB of RAM. And that’s good because Windows 11 won’t run well on something less than that. And you don’t need a lot of internal storage to run Zimmwriter. You need less than 100 MB to install it. Then you need storage for your posts. If you’re doing 1000’s of posts, well, you will need 10’s of GB for that. Not a problem.
Windows 11 needs 64 GB of storage. That means you need at least 128 GB of internal storage. Still not a problem. You have to look very hard to find a mini pc with less than that. Or less than 8 GB of memory.
OK what about your CPU? Most modern low end CPUs are fine. an N4095 is fine. Most of these have more than that.
You need to be able to run at least one 4K monitor. I like having two, but that’s me. Most of these will support two monitors, at least one of which is a 4K monitor.
Anything else? They all have USB connections. You might want to have wireless keyboard and mouse. Most of these will support that via bluetooth. This is especially handy if you mount your mini PC behind a monitor or hidden away in a drawer. That’s the power of a mini pc over a desktop. No footprint!
If you want to run Zimmwriter efficiently in 2024, consider these five mini PCs.. Focus on models with at least 8GB RAM, solid-state storage, and dual display support for the best results. There’s more valuable information ahead that’ll help you make the best choice.

What is Zimmwriter?
Zimmwriter is a tool designed to make content creation easier for bloggers and social media enthusiasts. Whether you’re writing blog posts, social media updates, or newsletters, Zimmwriter helps streamline the process.
It offers a user-friendly interface, so you don’t need to be a tech expert to use it effectively. Honestly it’s not the best UI I have ever seen, but once you start using it? You won’t care.
The main feature of Zimmwriter is its AI-powered writing assistance. It suggests sentences, corrects grammar, and even offers ideas to improve your content. This is especially useful if you’re struggling with writer’s block or just need a little inspiration. The tool can help you craft clear, engaging content quickly and easily.
Keep in mind that Zimmwriter is not the AI engine. It accepts API keys from various sources; graphics, LLMs, etc. What it does is to provide the prompts along with the bells and whistles (and checkboxes) you need to create great posts and graphics. You pay for the content. But in general it´s pretty cheap depending on the platform you use. For instance, the draft for this was less than 4 cents.
When I do a post in Zimmwriter, I can give it the following:
- A title
- How many sections I want
- where to get graphics from and how many I want
- whether I want skinny paragraphs
- whether I want an FAQ or not (and whether it should have long or short answers)
- Whether or not I want summary up front
- Whether I have a style I want it to mimic
- Whether or not I want it to generate an outline first (which I can modify)
And that really just scratches the surface.
Another great feature is its SEO optimization tools. Zimmwriter can suggest keywords and phrases to help your content rank higher in search engine results. This is perfect for bloggers looking to reach a wider audience. Plus, it integrates well with other platforms, making it easy to post directly to your blog or social media accounts.
In short, Zimmwriter is a versatile and easy-to-use tool that can enhance your writing process. It’s designed to help you create high-quality content without needing to be an expert in writing or technology.

Factors to Consider When Choosing Mini PCS to Run Zimmwriter
The community could agree on what the requirements are to run Zimmwriter successfully. You might be able to get away with less, but honestly in today’s digital age (sorry for the AI sarcasm!), why save a nickel to slow yourself down??
You should run Windows 11. Yes, Matt says it will run on Windows 8. I don’t care. Here’s the thing. It’s a security risk. Anything before Windows 11 will be end of lifed by the end of 2025 according to Microsoft. It’s like saving $20 on a house by not putting locks on it! DON’T DO IT!
The computer should come with Windows 11. Period. I am assuming you’re not buying this as a science project. One and done.
So what is really driving the rest of this section is, what can run windows 11? It should be a modern processor. At least a quad core. At least 1 Ghz. 2 is better. Burst speed of 2.6 GHz or higher is a comfortable speed to handle occasional crunches. 8 GB of RAM or it will be too slow. At least 128 GB storage. Windows 11 may take up half of that.
Interfaces? You need a mouse, keyboard, 4K display. You might also want to use this to surf, watch Matt’s training videos, etc. So sound is good two.
This amounts to at least 3 USB ports and an HDMI connection. Support for 2 displays is a nice to have.
WiFi? Sure why not? Either that or at least 1 GB Ethernet connection. WiFi is nice, because as I am just about to talk about, this should be something you can put anywhere.
Performance Capabilities
Choosing a mini PC that boasts at least 8GB of RAM guarantees you’ll handle Zimmwriter’s multitasking demands smoothly. This amount of memory allows you to run multiple applications simultaneously without experiencing lag, which is essential for productivity.
Additionally, you should look for a processor with a burst frequency of up to 2.6GHz. This speed helps make certain that your tasks are executed efficiently, allowing you to focus on your writing without interruptions.
Integrated graphics are also important; aim for a mini PC that supports at least dual 4K displays. This capability enhances your workspace, providing clear visuals for writing and editing tasks. It’s easier to see details and manage multiple documents with high-resolution displays.
Don’t forget about connectivity features. A mini PC with dual-band WiFi and multiple USB ports will make it simpler to connect peripherals and access online resources. These features guarantee that you can maintain a smooth workflow, whether you’re accessing research materials or connecting to external devices.
Storage Options
Understanding the storage options available on a mini PC can greatly enhance your experience running ZimmWriter. When choosing a mini PC, consider the onboard storage capacity. Ideally, look for devices with 128GB or higher eMMC or SSD options. These larger capacities allow you to store more files and applications effectively, ensuring a smoother writing process.
Additionally, seek mini PCs with expandable storage options, like M.2 slots or Micro SD card support. This feature lets you increase your storage as needed, so you won’t have to replace your device when you run out of space. Fast storage types, such as SSDs, are essential because they offer quicker read/write speeds than traditional HDDs, greatly boosting overall system performance during your writing tasks.
Don’t forget to check for compatibility with external storage devices through USB ports. This can provide extra flexibility for backing up data or accessing large files.
RAM Requirements
To guarantee a smooth experience running ZimmWriter, you’ll want at least 8GB of RAM in your mini PC. This amount guarantees that you can multitask effectively while using the software, preventing frustrating slowdowns. If your system has less than 4GB of RAM, you may find yourself grappling with sluggish response times and difficulty managing multiple applications at once.
Upgrading to 16GB of RAM can greatly enhance your system’s responsiveness, especially if you’re working with larger documents or keeping several tabs open. This extra capacity allows ZimmWriter to operate more efficiently, providing a smoother writing experience.
When considering RAM, look for systems that utilize DDR4 technology, as this offers faster data transfer speeds compared to the older DDR3 standard. Additionally, think about future-proofing your setup by selecting a mini PC that allows for RAM upgrades. Software requirements can evolve over time, and having the option to expand your RAM will guarantee that your mini PC remains capable of handling new demands.
Operating System Compatibility
ZimmWriter’s performance heavily relies on running a compatible operating system, so make certain your mini PC supports the latest options like Windows 11. This operating system is pre-installed on many current mini PC models and offers improved resource management, which is essential for ZimmWriter’s efficiency.
Before purchasing, check ZimmWriter’s specific system requirements, as performance can vary greatly depending on the operating system you choose.
You’ll also want to take into account the ease of updates and software compatibility that newer operating systems provide. Windows 11, for instance, guarantees a smoother user experience with ZimmWriter.
Additionally, look for mini PCs that support multiple operating systems; this flexibility might be beneficial if you plan to run different versions or related software alongside ZimmWriter.
Connectivity Features
When selecting a mini PC to run ZimmWriter effectively, connectivity features play an important role in guaranteeing a smooth and productive experience. You’ll want to start by confirming your mini PC has dual-band WiFi support (2.4G/5G). This allows for faster internet connections, which is vital for multitasking without lag.
Bluetooth connectivity is another key factor. Look for options that offer Bluetooth 4.2 or higher, as this will enable seamless connections with peripherals like keyboards and mice.
A variety of ports is essential too; having multiple USB 3.0 ports and HDMI outputs allows you to connect additional devices and displays, enhancing your working environment.
For those who prefer wired connections, gigabit Ethernet capability is a must. This feature guarantees a stable, high-speed internet connection, which is particularly beneficial for tasks that require consistent bandwidth.
Size and Portability
Mini PCs are a fantastic choice for users seeking a compact and portable solution to run ZimmWriter efficiently.
With dimensions typically around 4 to 6 inches in height and width, these devices are perfect for limited desk spaces or for those who want to work on the go. Their lightweight design, ranging from 140 grams to 1.54 pounds, guarantees easy transport, making them ideal travel companions.
Despite their small size, mini PCs support multiple display outputs, allowing you to connect dual monitors. This feature enhances your multitasking capabilities without taking up much physical space. You can easily manage your ZimmWriter tasks alongside other applications, improving your productivity.
Furthermore, many mini PCs are designed with energy efficiency in mind. They consume less power than traditional desktops while still delivering adequate performance for basic computing tasks. This energy efficiency not only helps in reducing your electricity bill but also contributes to a more sustainable computing experience.
When choosing a mini PC for ZimmWriter, consider these size and portability factors to guarantee you find the right fit for your workspace and lifestyle.
